Legacy courses are courses which have previously been formally reaccredited by ASAR but for which further accreditation is deemed inappropriate as they are no longer admitting students and have no active intention to admit students in the foreseeable future. Legacy courses are able to retain legacy accredited status through the annual submission of self-study reports, per deadlines set by ASAR. Legacy courses may apply for reaccreditation at any time subject to their being able to demonstrate an active intention and ability to enrol new students, supported by current evidence of student and industry demand.
Legacy courses may not admit new students at any point that legacy accreditation applies. Students who are enrolled in legacy courses are eligible to apply to enter the ASAR registry at any time, as long as their first enrolment in the course occurred during a period of full accreditation. Any student who first entered the course during its period of legacy accreditation will be ineligible to apply for admission to the ASAR registry on the basis of that course of study.
