ASAR’s Strategic Direction

External Review of ASAR’s functions and processes
In order to ensure that ASAR is in a robust position to respond to and operate within the evolving education/training program accreditation and continuing professional development (CPD) sector, the ASAR Council decided in August 2010 to undertake an independent review of its structure and processes by appointing an external facilitator.

The review commenced in September 2010 and concluded in June 2011, when the recommendations from the external facilitator were accepted by the ASAR Council.  There was significant stakeholder engagement during the external review including a stakeholders’ forum and an online survey.

Two key recommendations from the external review were the need for ASAR to review its Governance structure and it’s Program Accreditation Guidelines (PAG).

ASAR is now working with external consultants to affect a new Governance structure and revised Program Accreditation Standards, policies and processes.

PAG Review
It is anticipated that updated Accreditation Standards and Criteria, an evidence guide and a standardised application form will be completed and available from the ASAR website by the end of 2011.

Governance Restructure
An information paper on the proposed new Governance structure is available to all stakeholders for constructive feedback.
